WCGU Students Recognized During Military Training
On July 2, 2017, military training of more than 7,500 students of Grade 2016 began in the morning. VP Zhou Yun and Chen Jin, the instructor’s representative, delivered their speeches at this meeting. The military skills training included grappling, fire drills, light weapons operation, self and mutual medical aid, formation training, emergency drills, cohort exercise, parade, march-past training and joint performance.
On the morning of July 10, Dean Li Yi and Assistant Dean Ke Zhicheng welcomed and visited our students at the training site with cordial greetings greatly enhanced enhancing everyone’s morale.
On July 12, the Joint Performance & Closing Ceremony of Military Training was held at our track. During this closing ceremony, participants enjoyed the national flag and school flag hoisting, parade, the president’s summary, commendation, prize presenting and pennant returning. The attendees included Party Secretary Qu Shaobing, Vice President Zhou Yun, Dean Li Yi, military training leadership, and all military instructors. Assistant Dean Ke Zhicheng, Mr. Jiao Dawei, and Ms.Yin Qian also attended the meeting.
During this ceremony, the 44-member WCGU platoon, led by two military instructors, marched powerfully in step, spirited and confident. When walking by the rostrum, they uniformly shouted the slogan “to struggle and advance bravely!” At the end of their performance, VP Zhou Yun made a speech, appreciating all platoons’ great jobs and expectations for their sustained efforts in the future.
During the commendation, WCGU won the banner of Advanced Company, Ms.Yin Qian was awarded Outstanding Individual for Military Training, Pan Mengli of Grade 2015 won the title of Outstanding Peer Leader for Military Training, and nine students of Grade 2016 won the Activist Award.
Military training, an important part of national defense education, serves as an effective way for college students to temper their will as well as develop good habits in learning and living. As a window to showcase WCGU students’ positive outlook, the military training also makes it possible for them to fear neither hardship nor fatigue, work in unity and help each other, endure bitterness and to persevere.
